Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell began her career in the field of radio and television reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She joined the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington reporter. 1981 she started covering for the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was promoted to the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was the host and panelist for the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the 1988 debates between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for the John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering for the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Her coverage included a variety of crucial stories such as the Iran-Contra controversy, tax and budget reforms in addition to the issue of arms control. She traveled widely together with President Reagan during summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
